The Tenterfield Saddlery

Named in the late 1840's by Sir Stuart Donaldson after a family home in Scotland. Donaldson later became the first Premier of New South Wales and was the last man in Australia to fight a duel.
Tenterfield sits astride the Great Dividing Range at the Northern Gateway to New South Wales and the glorious New England region. This area offers a contrast of rugged mountain beauty and the serenity of rural landscapes.
Known as the 'Birthplace of Federation' because it was here Sir Henry Parkes presented his 'Vision of a Nation' speech in October 1889 outlining the formation of a federation, Tenterfield boasts many unique historical and natural features and offers visitors a wide variety of activities including bushwalking and camping in Bald Rock and Boonoo Boonoo Falls National Parks, fishing at Glenlyon Dam or just enjoying the historical buildings and walks in the town.
Accommodation in the Tenterfield ranges from lodge style through to resort, including farm stays and bed and breakfast.
The warmth and friendliness of Tenterfield's people will ensure your stay is an enjoyable one. The surrounding bushland becomes a carpet of colourful wildflowers in Spring, warm Summer days are followed by 'mountain cool' evenings and the town is transformed into a blaze of rich colours as tree lined streets change through the Autumn hues (best in April), brisk Winter nights give way to welcome warmth of Winter sushine.
Made famous in the 'Tenterfield Traveller' song written and performed by one of Tenterfield's favourite sons, the late Peter Allen.
