In a wine producing region on the Blackwood River, Nannup was founded in the
1850s when cattle were run on large pastoral leases. Today it is better
recognised for its fine wines and scenic walks and drives.
The town was first explored by Thomas Turner in 1834 and was gazetted in 1890.
A week long flower festival is held each August and a Rose Festival in November.
Each March on the Labor Day long weekend thousands flock to Nannup for the annual
Music Festival which includes market stalls and street performances.
