Moora was one of the original stations on the Midland railway line to Walkaway, and
the townsite was gazetted in 1895.
It is a substantial town with a hospital, banks, schools and
a general shopping centre. It is known for the number of hand-painted murals
which adorn many of its walls and the town clock. It is part of the Wildflower Trail
each spring.
There is a small silica mine 15km north of town.
