The Huon Valley is one of Tamania's most visited and popular touring regions. It takes
ita name from the Huon river which meanders through pretty riverside towns and meets the
Tasman Ocean in the D'entrecasteaux Channel. Situated on the western bank of the river 45km from Hobart, Franklin is a delightful river port village with a carefree atmosphere. Named after Governor Sir John Franklin it was the site of the first settlement in the Huon area in 1804. While in Franklin call in and see one of the most impressive collections of antiques and collectables you will encounter directly across the road from the Wooden Boat Centre.
