Northern suburb of Sydney.
Wiilloughby City Council.
A largely residential area, Artarmon incorporates an industrial area in the south of the neighnorhood
with a band of commercial properties near Artarmon railway station.
Traditionally a working class suburb, the many heritage features of the homes in the area have
been preserved.
The recently refurbished Wilkes Avenue Square promotes the area's heritage feature and has become
a busy little alfresco dining centre for the suburb.
With a rail station, very good schools and located close to Sydney city and Chatswood, Artarmon
is a bright, young, family oriented neighborhood.
The development of the area, dating back to 1794, is renowned for its contribution to the
brick-making industry from 1828 until the 1960s, using local shale from Gore Hill.
