A large statue of a Fresian cow illustrates the significance of Harvey and the region
as the major producers of milk for the state. Citrus orchards, vineyards, and a
flourishing beef industry contibute to the wealth of the region which is within a short
drive of the coast and golden beaches.
The name comes from the nearby Harvey River, named by Governor James Stirling in 1829,
soon after the river's discovery by explorers Dr Alexander Collie and Lieutenant William
Preston RN.
