Kryal Castle - Ballarat

Set on the slopes of Mount Warrenheip, just east of Ballarat, Kryal Castle is the creation of Keith Ryall. Set on 56 acres of farmland, it occupies 6 acres within a walled area and comprises 73 buildings including displays, museums, facilities and services. The castle opened in 1974.
Step back into Medieval times. Gothic towers, turrets, parapets and battlements; complete with a moat, drawbridge, porticos, keep, tavern, craft shops, stables and dungeons will all be found here.
The Keep and Bloody Tower house the display of arms, armour, weapons and torture equipment, the best in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Crown Jewels and royal regalia, maces and swords, a replica of the coronation chair made from 300 year old oak, and the queen's coronation dress, with 240,000 handclawed settings can also be seen.
Kryal Castle is interesting and educational, recreating many aspects of Medieval life. Live exhibitions include re-enactments of live magic shows daily. Glass-blowing and a Magna Carta attraction direct from England are other highlights on your visit. and quaint shops sell novelty and period merchandise at modest prices.
Kryal Castle is just off the Western Highway from Melbourne, east of Ballarat, and can be easily seen from the road as you near Ballarat.
