St Marys is a pretty mountain town in the Mt Nicholas Range at the centre of a large forest area between
Fingal and St Helens on the Main Esk Hwy from Campbell Town or between Bicheno and St Helens off the
Tasman Hwy. From St Marys heading east you will pass through Elephant Pass to the south and St Marys Pass to the north. Both offer wonderful mountain and forest views with coastal views as you head further east. At the head of the South Esk River which flows into the Tamar at Launceston, the drive along the highway from Campbell Town follows the river for much of the way. Accommodation is available at the historic old hotel. The old, disused railway station at the western end of the town is occasionally used as a cafe and information centre.
