Ouse is a small township on the river of the same name and is between Hamilton and Wayatinah at
the eastern edge of the mountain range which contains many of the lakes of the Hydro Electric
System of Tasmania. An interesting drive from Ouse through the power stations takes in Wayatinah, Liapootah, Tarraleah and Tungatinah visiting Bronte Lagoon and Bronte Park and returning via Dee and Osterley. From Ouse there is a loose surface road through to historic Bothwell, and Lake Meadowbank is south of the Lyell Hwy between Ouse and Hamilton. This road also takes you to the Mt Field National Park through Ellendale and Westerway. Ouse has a supermarket, a hotel, takeaway food, a service station, a 9 hole golf course and a bowling green. There is an historic old church on the hill at the western end of town.
