Maydena is a small logging town on the Gordon River Road west of the Mt Field National Park. The road west leads to the Styx Forest, Creepy Crawly Walk, and Strathgordon where you can see the Gordon River Dam and lakes Gordon and Pedder. Near Maydena are the Junee Cave and the Marriott Falls and in winter there are ski fields just north in the Mt Field National Park.
