At the northern end of the Freycinet National Park is the peaceful fishing town of Coles Bay. The natural beauty of the township, sandy white beaches and pristine safe waters with a backdrop of sheer cliffs and granite peaks. This resort and fishing township is dominated by jagged, pink granite peaks with cliffs that drop sheer into the sea. Picture postcard scenery abounds and visitors can choose between a variety of water and land-based activities. Fresh oysters are available direct from the harvest at the Freycinet marine farm, scenic air-flights operate from the Friendly Beaches airstrip, and charter cruises offer fishing, diving or sightseeing opportunities. Among the most popular walks is the one with views over Wineglass Bay. Information on walks is available from information centres in Bicheno or Swansea. What to see and Do: Charter a boat, hire a dinghy, catch your evening meal from the sea, walk the Wineglass Bay and along other tracks, see black swan and waterfowl at Moulting Lagoon, spend time at friendly beaches, observe birdlife, virtually tame wallabies and other native animals.
