On the Hunter River between Scone and Muswellbrook in the rich wine producing Hunter Valley. Motel accommodation. Golf, water sports.
The Aberdeen Historical Pathway extends along the New England Highway between Hall and Graeme Streets and includes bronze plaques and a series of storyboards detailing much of the early history and colour of Aberdeen. The railway was extended from Muswellbrook to Aberdeen in 1870.
It was partially funded by a grant to the Advancing Aderdeen Committee of nearly $50,000 in 2002 and was compiled with the help of the local historians and the Sone and Upper Hunter Historical Societies.
The town was named in 1838 after the fourth Earl of Aderdeen, George Gordon. Aberdeen is a scottish town on the east coast and an important service port for oil rigs operating in the North Sea,

HISTORIC BUILDINGS
The Segenhoe Inn
First licensed in April 1839 as the Aderdeen Inn, it provided sustenance for travellers along the Highway.
The Aberdeen Meat Works
Construction began in 1891 on 391 acres by the Australian Chilling and Freezing Company with the first cargo of 12,907 sheep and lambs shipped to London in February 1892.
The Aberdeen Hotel
Built in 1900 by C.E. Peachey it remained in the family for for over 70 years despite being badly damaged by fire in 1913.
It was the third hotel built in Aberdeen and boasted such modern innovations as acetylene gas lighting.
The Grange (1862)
Built for retired road constructor, Peter Doyle, it is one of the oldest buildings in Aberdeen and listed by the National Trust.

Post Office
Completed in 1900 at a cost of 535 pounds this building is at the corner of Moray and Segenhoe Streets.
Aberdeen Public School
Opened in July 1893 consisting of a brick construction of two rooms, divided by a glass partition, and completed at a cost of £749. The original school building is now the school library. Between 1864 and 1877 classes were held in the Presbyterian chapel in Moray St.

CHURCHES
St Pauls Uniting Church Dedicated as a church, manse and school in 1849.
Located at the corner of Moray and Abercairney Sts.
St Marks Church of England 1913
Land was set aside for a Church of England in 1843 but it was 10 years before a slab building with a shingle roof occupied the site, providing a facility for the 10 members of the local congregation.
This was replaced around 1890 and a foundation stone for an even newer church was laid in 1913. It was dedicated in 1918 by Bishop Stretch and consecrated in 1965 by Bishop Housdon.
