The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is at Sydney's Darling Harbour a short distance from Chinatown and the CBD and beside Cockle Bay.

It was officially opened in 1988, with a new section of the centre added for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and is Australia's largest and most successful venue for conferences, exhibitions and events.
It is used as a conference and convention venue and to hold exhibitions, as well as hosting various smaller events such as weddings and meetings. The ballroom can accommodate 1,000 people,

There are some 30 rooms, ranging from small meeting rooms to a 3,500 capacity auditiorium, as well as foyer areas and other spaces which can be adapted for use as an exhibition space or pre-dinner function venue. It has 6 halls, used primarily for exhibitions, but adaptable for gala dinners and other large-scale events.

State-of-the-art audio visual and IT facilities enable the Centre to provide important support services for international and corporate events such as electronic voting systems, fibre-optic links ideal for live broadcasts and an on-site broadcast studio and video production team.

Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre is owned by the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority and is privately managed by Convention Centre Management Pty Ltd (CCM), a consortium jointly owned by hotel group Accor Asia Pacific and food services organisation Compass Group.
