ESPERANCE - WESTERN AUSTRALIA |
Esperance will be found on the central, southern coast of Western Australia and is a popular
holiday destination, and the first time you see the beach if you are heading to Perth via the
Coastal Highway. It has a Mediterranean climate and is surrounded by National Parks, white sandy beaches and sits on an archipelago with hundreds of islands inhabited by seals, sea lions and terns. Diving, fishing, boating, sailing and sightseeing are the popular pastimes and there are many reefs and some shipwrecks for divers to explore. Settlement began in 1863 when the Dempster brothers arrived over land from Northam. Their original cottage is preserved in the town centre and illustrates just how tangible Australia's history is. Where else in the world can you see the original building of a town ?
