EXPLORING THE CENTRAL COAST
Take highway 1 north of Sydney across the Harbour Bridge and join the 127km, F3 Freeway to Newcastle.
From the northern Sydney suburb of Wahroonga to the Kariong Interchange (43km) the freeway is 3 lanes
in either direction, reducing to 2 lanes either way from Kariong north.
Until the new Freeway was constructed the old Pacific Highway more closely followed the coast through
the Central North region. This area is now accessed from the Kariong Interchange along the Central Coast
Highway.
The roads linking Kariong with Doyalson (Pacific Highway, Dane Drive, Masons Parade, York Street,
George Street, The Entrance Road, Oakland Avenue, Coral Street, Wilfred Barrett Drive, Budgewoi
Road and Scenic Road) became known as the Central Coast Highway from 9 August 2006.
